CHILCOMPTON STATION PROJECT - THE WAY AHEAD

Concept images of how a newly reconstructed Chilcompton Station could look

What residents of Chilcompton can expect, and our promises to you

Community, history, and conservation of the former station site and its surroundings are of the upmost importance to us. It is our aim to create a first class amenity and meeting point that the people of Chilcompton can truly be proud of.

The railway will reunite a long lost and much loved aspect of the past, as a part of the village’s future. In the spirit of good will and always mindful of the need to be a good neighbour, all work will be carried out in a considerate and respectful manner to help minimise any disruption to those residents living near the station site. Reconstruction or maintenance work on the site will take place after 10:00 am, with all volunteers parking their vehicles outside of Station Mead. An alternative route will be used for the large delivery of building materials as not to have a negative effect on residents quality of life. When the rebuilding work has been completed, we promise that it will be a facility that is both pleasing to the eye and nicely blends in with its surroundings.

In regard of the operation of public trains, this is something that will not happen over night and will take a few years to achieve. When this time comes, we plan to annually release a scheduled programme of events (which will take place on selected weekends and bank holidays and factor in rest breaks for households living near by). Alternative parking arrangements will be made for visitors to the railway away from Station Mead.

If you require further information about our future plans for the railway please do not hesitate to contact us, our email address is:

A public meeting is due to be held by Chilcompton Parish Council regarding our proposals for the railway, the date has not yet been confirmed, but is expected to be sometime during August (the date and full details will be announced here and on our Facebook group page). Representatives of the Chilcompton Station Project will be there to answer your questions and provide clarity on any concerns you may have.
